Provide advanced business strategy and technology for Putting Collective Knowledge to Work in the emerging environment of open systems for communicating anything anywhere anytime. Our focus: Developing Conscious Media for the new paradigm of www.mobi.me.tv and video-driven applications for smart phones. Also experienced with intellectual property rights, successfully defending our trademark in 2001.

Principal, RobustMedia Communications
RobustMedia researches, creates and produces identities and a dynamic presence for clients in North America and abroad. It also develops and markets innovative programs for network environments to engage and inform, including short and feature-length film and videos, documentaries and web-based reality programs.

President, Abraxas & Simba Holdings Inc.
Owns and markets the trademark iTrust, as a commitment to revealing fundamental value in securities. This includes:

  • iTrust Ratings, a patent-pending business methodology developed to identify public equities that provide investors profitable returns, income and long term growth:
  • Co-owner and Portfolio Manager for iTrust Partners, an investment management firm offering enhanced Canadian income funds to overseas investors.
  • Building on experience having published the iTrustReport as part of iTrustInvestor.com to inform investors in Canadian equities.

Present

Founder, Jazz Wines inc.
Developed the identity and packaging, networks and market for a business dedicated to celebrating talent and connecting creative people through the world wide web and wine of our own. In 2007-2008, launched The*Shiraz 2005 by an award-winning wine maker in Australia for North American markets.

President, iTrust Institute
Co-founder of an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that provides objective research & education on Canadian income securities and their market. Made presentation to a federal market inquiry held by the Minister of Finance in 2007.

1995

Founding Director, Virgin Cola, Japan, Tokyo
Planned and launched a successful beverage business for Richard Branson in Japan to counter a market monopoly. Worked with the Virgin Asia regional manager to coordinate design and marketing of the product. Established production, distribution and retail partners. Coordinated financing and hiring of a local management team. Achievement: 1% market share per employee.

1994- 1995

GM Asia, Cott International, Barbados
Planned for Cott to move into Asia through retail brand relationships in Japan. Became Founding Director of Cott Japan. Established Japanese clients, import and domestic supply. Set up Tokyo office, hiring a staff of three. Contribution: more than US$ 1.5 million EBIT and US$ 50 million in market cap within first year of operation.

Vice President Strategic Planning,
Retail Brands International, Toronto
Planned and guided the launch of premium quality private label products for 55 leading North American and global retailers. Also designed a Web-enabled business intelligence system for senior executives of Cott Corp, co-owner of Retail Brands and the leading supplier of premium retail branded products.

1992

Senior Associate,
Watt Design Group, Toronto.
Led and implemented strategic design and brand development projects for market leading clients of the Watt Group, one of the world's largest multidisciplinary design firms. Clients included:

  • Retailers such as Loblaw Companies Canada, Walmart and Seven Eleven USA;
  • Packaged goods marketers like the Irving family, Beatrice Foods and George Weston Limited;
  • Social institutions such as the Addiction Research Foundation and the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry;
  • Agricultural co-ops including Ontario Apple Growers and Canadian Egg Board.

1986-1997

Founder and Partner, NeoSimplicity Inc
Formed a small consulting firm focused on educational products and development programs:

  • Created and launched QuitKit, a best-selling health education product;
  • Led an innovative research project for Health & Welfare Canada to develop organizational strategies for growth based on principles of health education and community development;
  • Coordinated multilevel government funding of more than half a million dollars for setup of the Euclid Center for Arts and Education.

1987

, Toronto
Developed traditional and interactive educational programs. Led projects involving creation of multimedia products and interface design:

  • Evalu*Life computer-based health assessment and education system, for the Department of National Defense;
  • National Health Education Program using Telidon network technology, for Health & Welfare Canada and the Federal Department of Communications;
  • Communication strategy and program implementation for large organizations, social agencies and associations such as the City of Toronto Department of Public Health, the Addiction Research Foundation, ParticipAction, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Canadian and Ontario Dental Associations, and Petrocan.

1980-1983

Innovative Business Initiatives
Film and Broadcast Industry

  • Provided operational strategy and growth plan for a documentary production house.
  • Worked as a Production Accountant on a feature film produced for Roger Corman. Used the experience as an opportunity to explore emerging applications of computer technology to tie together creative, planning and accounting processes in making film.
  • Researched film distribution and the changing broadcast market, developing an innovative business model that was adopted with success by Cineplex Odeon Cinemas.
